GCSE English language and maths are available to resit in November for students aged 16 or over on 31 August 2026. The November 2026 exam series runs from 2 to 18 November, with candidate results on 14 January 2027. Your school, college or exam centre decides the entry and should confirm your board, specification, tier and preparation plan.
What are the November 2026 resit dates?
JCQ's official key-dates document gives 4 October 2026 as the entry deadline, 2 November as the first exam on the common timetable and 18 November as the final exam. Candidate results are released to candidates on 14 January 2027. Do not wait for the entry deadline to ask. Your centre may set an earlier internal deadline and needs time to confirm the board, tier, access arrangements and fees.
What should you ask the college?
Ask whether the resit is planned for November or the following summer, what lessons are compulsory, which exam board will be used and whether your previous specification changes. Also ask how the resit fits around the main post-16 course. In England, continued post-16 maths and English study is linked to the 16-to-19 funding condition, with approved qualifications and exemptions set out in official guidance.
